Senate Bill 1 Nurse Licensure Compact passed both the Senate on January 17, 2018 and the House on January 18, 2018 and was signed into Law by Governor Susana Martinez on January 18, 2018 at approximately 5:00 p.m.
New Mexico joins 28 other states that enacted the eNLC prior to the implementation date of January 19, 2018. If you held an active NM multistate nursing license (RN or LPN) prior to July 20, 2017 you will automatically have multistate privileges in any eNLC state on January 19, 2018. Conversely if you have a multistate license from an eNLC state you may practice in New Mexico. If you have any question about your privilege to practice in a state you may access the New Mexico Board of Nursing’s license verification http://nmbon.sks.com/verification.aspx and search for your license. Then select Where can the nurse practice as an RN or LPN? to be provided a color-coded map or list of the states in which you can practice.
