A seven-member board appointed by the Governor, the New Mexico Board of Nursing consists of four licensed nurses and three public members. Its meetings are open to the public; agendas are posted on the Board's website.

Jacqueline Kaiser, MSA, BSN, APRN, CRNA

Ms. Kaiser was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Nursing August 2018. Ms. Kaiser obtained her BSN from the University of New Mexico in 2003, graduating Cum Laude, with Honors, and receiving the Clinical Excellence Award. She worked as a RN at UNM Hospital and the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque. In 2009, Ms. Kaiser graduated from one of the first established nurse anesthetist program in the U.S. and has since been practicing as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in New Mexico both independently and as part of a care-team. She has served as a Board Member on the New Mexico Association of Nurse Anesthetists and as a Committee Member of the Advanced Practice Advisory Committee at the Board of Nursing. She is a native New Mexican from Aztec. In her free time, Ms. Kaiser enjoys spending quality time with her loving husband, two children, and three dogs.

Dr. Karen L. Brooks, Esq., EdD, MSN RN

Monica Arencon-Smith, MSN, RN, CPN

Angela Colmenero, BSN, RN, VA-BC

Angela Colmenero was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Nursing in August 2021. Mrs. Colmenero was born and raised in New Mexico and obtained her nursing degree from New Mexico State University. Mrs. Colmenero has been employed as a Registered Nurse for Presbyterian in Ruidoso since 2005. In 2015, she became an instrumental part of establishing the new infusion center at Lincoln County Medical Center and has spent the last 6 years initiating programs to educate staff on vascular access and evidence-based practices. Mrs. Colmenero is a certified PICC nurse and is Board Certified in Vascular Access which has become her passion. Angela spends most of her free time with her loving husband and three beautiful children. Mrs. Colmenero looks forward to serving the citizens of New Mexico in this new chapter.

Ms. Sandra Lynn Meyer

Ms. Meyer is originally from Ohio and lived in a small town where they built Levitt-town type housing for soldiers returning from World War II. She has been a resident of New Mexico for 40 years and has had a career in banking, a career as a Paralegal for a short time, and worked in long term care settings. Nineteen years ago, she was approached to start a guardianship practice in Las Cruces and has been serving as a guardian and conservator for people who have been declared incapacitated by the courts. Although this work is sometimes controversial, she fights for the rights of her clients, especially the elderly. Her practice has grown to include three more guardians and three support staff. Referrals come from the hospitals after an individual is determined to not be able to make a safe discharge plan and the hospitals petition the courts to have her appointed. Clients range from 18 to 98 years of age and her firm currently has 125 clients. Ms. Meyer was appointed as a member to the Board of Nursing in October 2021.
